Hillcrest Short-Term Missions

Each April, the Hillcrest family collects funds for short-term missions. The Send the Light annual special collection for 2024 short-term missions was held April 7, 2023. Twenty-seven (27) Hillcrest representatives participated in 14 mission efforts! The Foreign Missions Team was able to help with airfare for campaigners and medicines for Zambia Medical Mission.

Cebu City, Philippines – Download the 2024 Summer Mission Report

Hillcrest Church of Christ sent a team from Hillcrest to join in the mission of Caleb and Vanessa Callari in Cebu City, Philippines. The team prayerfully explored the city, learning from the Callaris about the local culture, and discussing both challenges and open doors. An outreach organized by the Callaris was to be held at a local hotel. The local churches also enjoyed learning from the team as people gathered there.

Hillcrest was one of seven churches that participated. Some of our young adults taught about 400 young adults. They walked 2 miles to the water where 32 were baptized. Hillcrest members participating were co-directors Ellie Hamby and Ray Ferguson, Courtney Campbell, Brynn Martinez, Dan McKnight, Odies & Kathie Wright, and Anna Marie Rupprecht, among the 230 U.S. and Zambian team members. Beyond the medical, dental, optical, wound care, and other stations, there were 316 baptisms, the highest ever for a Zambia Medical Mission. In addition, were 10 tons of mealie meal and 1/2 ton of beans distributed to hungry families, 289 cervical cancer screenings, and 400 physical therapy patients.

Mutare School of Preaching, Zimbabwe – Download the 2025 Report

They completed a site visit to the Mutare School of Preaching, which has 29 students preparing to be preachers in Zimbabwe and beyond. They visited two of three Starfish Ministry locations in Nhedziwa and Chiware, which spiritually teach and physically feed over 225 impoverished children on weekdays. They also conducted Sunday worship at Chiware, followed by a fellowship meal. Fifteen people responded to the gospel.
